What Happens When Your Wedding Party Wakes Up in Treehouses at The Mohicans
Most wedding venues close their doors at midnight, and your friends head back to separate hotels. But what if your wedding party could wake up in treehouses the next morning, still laughing about the toasts over coffee on a forest deck? At The Mohicans Treehouse Resort and Wedding Venue, your celebration doesn't end when the music stops. It stretches across a day and entire overnight stay, with everyone staying together in cabins and treehouses scattered across 75 wooded acres in the Mohican Valley.
How On-Site Treehouse and Cabin Lodging Changes the Wedding Experience
When everyone stays on site, your wedding stops feeling like a single event and starts feeling like a shared adventure. No one is calling Ubers or checking out of chain hotels at 11:00 am. Instead, your college roommates are making pancakes in a cabin kitchen while your parents sip coffee on The Manor's back porch, and your siblings are still replaying last night's dance moves around a fire pit.
Your Wedding Party Arrives Early and Stays Close
Most wedding venues send your friends and family off to scattered hotels. Here, they check in at 2:00 pm on your wedding day and settle into treehouses, cabins, or country homes within walking distance of the Grand Barn (country homes are just a short 5 minute drive). Your maid of honor might book White Oak Treehouse with its two queen lofts. Your best man and his family could take The Mohican Cabin, which sleeps up to 15. Everyone is together, and no one is rushing through travel plans at the last minute.
We offer ten treehouses, four cabins, and two country homes. Some are whimsical single room retreats like The Nest or The Airstream. Others, like El Castillo and The View, sleep four with loft bedrooms and outdoor showers in warm weather. For larger groups, The Walhonding Cabin sleeps up to 12, and The Manor House offers three bedrooms and three full baths in a fully remodeled log home located 2.6 miles from the resort.
Friday Events Offer 2 Nights of Lodging Thursday and Friday Meaning Getting Ready Feels More Relaxed When You're Already There
If you book a Friday event at The Grand Barn, your party doesn't need to pack up hotel rooms and caravan to the venue. They wake up in the woods, make breakfast in a full kitchen, and walk over when it's time. You have access to three party suites at the Grand Barn with beauty bars, so hair and makeup happen in a space designed for it. But the calm starts earlier, when everyone rolls out of a treehouse bed instead of a generic hotel.
Parents of the couple often book The Farm House or The Manor, giving them a private retreat 2.4 or 2.6 miles away when they need a break from wedding weekend energy. The Manor features wide plank hickory floors, a custom black walnut table, and a large backyard for games.
The Celebration Doesn't Stop When the Dance Floor Closes
After your last dance, your wedding party doesn't say goodbye in a hotel lobby. They walk back to treehouses with outdoor fire rings and covered decks. We've seen groups gather around fire pits, replay the toasts, and keep the night going on their own terms. Checkout isn't until 10:00 am the next morning, so there's time for a slow breakfast and one more walk through the woods before everyone heads home.
All treehouses (except the Wildwood Tent) have outdoor showers open in warm weather. Others, like Wildwood Tent Treehouse, the Silver Bullet Treehouse and the New Little Red Treehouse, include steam showers and large decks. Pets are allowed in select cabins and treehouses but not at The View, The Manor House, or The Farm House.
What It Looks Like to Book Lodging for a Wedding
All properties are guaranteed to be available for your wedding guests to book for the night of your event up until 90 days prior to your wedding. Our Reservation Team provides a private Group Code to you that you can pass along to your guests. This Group Code will unlock lodging on our booking engine for the night of your event. If you are hosting a Friday wedding, your Group Code will unlock both Thursday and Friday night for wedding guests to book. All reservations require a 50% deposit at booking, and the balance charges automatically 30 days before arrival.
Why This Setup Works for Destination Weddings Close to Home
About 70% of our couples come from Columbus and surrounding areas, and another 30% travel from Cleveland and surrounding areas. Their guests appreciate a destination wedding feel without flights or long drives. The Grand Barn sits on 75 wooded acres atop the hills of the Mohican Valley, and the treehouses are scattered across the property. Some are designed by Pete Nelson, and one was featured on the popular show Treehouse Masters on the Discover Channel.
Paths between lodging and the venue can be hilly, so many guests choose to drive even though it's walking distance. We recommend four wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles in winter because roads can be rural and steep when snow or ice appears.
What Couples Tell Us About This Experience
Couples love that their wedding party never feels scattered. Everyone is together for the day of the event and then for an unforgettable overnight stay. The stress of coordinating ride shares disappears. Your photographer captures getting ready shots in natural light on treehouse decks.
We also hear from parents who appreciate having The Farm House or The Manor as a private base. They can host a quiet family breakfast the morning after the wedding or give grandparents a comfortable retreat when the dance floor gets loud.
Conclusion:
When your wedding party wakes up in treehouses, the celebration becomes something bigger than a single day. It's a shared memory that starts with an event that is extraordinary and ends with one more walk through the woods before goodbye. That's what we built this place for.
